Product Description |
| Building on the Call of Duty4: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War thrusts players into the ruthless and gritty chaos of WWII combat and challenges them to band together to survive the most harrowing and climactic battles in both the European and Pacific theaters. The title re-defines WWII games by offering an uncensored experience with unique enemies, jawdropping fire power like the flamethrower, and combat variety, including Kamikaze fighters, ambush attacks, Banzai charges and cunning tactics, as well as explosive on-screen action through all new cooperative gameplay. Features:
- Multiplayer - Call of Duty: World at War supports intense, online multiplayer action using the Call of Duty4: Modern Warfare engine. Bringing multiplayer to the Wii for the first time in the Call of Duty franchise, players will be able battle it out in a variety of game types, plus upgrade and customize characters by using perks and completing challenges.
- Squadmate Mode - This single-screen cooperative mode lets players team up to play alongside friends and family. At any moment, a second Wii Remote can be activated, giving the second player their own aiming crosshair to provide cover and added firepower while fighting alongside their Squadmate.
- Combat-Look - Call of Duty: World at War includes "Combat-Look" technology - as the player runs through the game's diverse environments and topographies, the vertical line of sight discreetly adapts to keep players focused on the battlefield without having to radically adjust for uphill/downhill grade variations in the terrain. This system still allows complete freedom and mobility for targeting and results in a smoother and more playable Wii experience.
- Wii Zapper Support - Call of Duty: World at War fully supports Nintendo's Zapper controller through a customized game setting that allows the entire game, including multi-player, to be played with the Zapper. This customized setting adds a new way to play by incorporating unique gestures and button layouts that add to the Call of Duty experience.

| To rate this game fairly you have to keep it in perspective and not compare it to other systems. For the wii there is only a handful of decent shooters and this is one of the best you can get. Yes it has been stripped down and the first stage is hard due to it being so dark but give it some time and you will really love progressing through the campaign. The graphics are perfectly acceptable and only the Makin map is dark online. Which brings me to the real problem with this game. To me the online play was totally neglected. The cheating got so out of hand that it was almost unplayable with cheats that let people float mid air, have unlimited ammo and be able to absorb countless bullets that I got totally frustrated. I actually wrote both Activision and Nintendo who both blamed each other and ultimately said that cheating is part of any online expeirence. To me that was unacceptable when 90% of all games I played had cheating so I went out and purchased a PS3 and dont have near the same issues. As an update I played for the first time in months this weekend (son was on my PS3) and the game I played didnt appear to be "jumping" around so maybe they have addressed it finally. |

| Many compare these FPS games against there platform counterparts (XBox and PS) which really isn't fair due to the hardware differences. These type games will always look and play better on the XBox and PS consoles, but if you only have a Wii, this is a very good FPS game. Controls are good, don't need the Wii Zapper, but it makes it more 'fun' to play. Have been playing for a couple hours over several days and am enjoying the gameplay and game progression. Learning and using the controller correctly makes game play that much better - for example, using the 'zoom view' on the weapon scope is pretty cool! Just got Modern Warfare, looking forward to it... |

| I bought this for my husband because he plays call of duty on xbox all the time and i thought he would like the wii version. He found it boring and very in accurate. It wasnt what we were expecting. So far he has only played the game one time in the last 6 months. Would just stick with the xbox version its much more accurate and easier to use. |

If you have played the Battlefield series, you may wonder, "what's next?" Well, this is. This game is next-generation technology with dynamic talk, enhanced body dynamics, special weapons, enhanced interactive actions, such as shaking the Wii-Mote for a melee attack and throwing grenades back at the enemy. This game also uses objectives instead of capture-the-flag.
Pros:
Realistic sounds
More dynamic
Explosions!
Cons:
Grenade Vulnerability
Banzai Vulnerability
No friendly fire |
