The only thing Jillian Michaels about this game are her voice clips and the poorly cut-out stock images of her that they use in every single menu. Speaking about menus, the entire game is a labyrinth of menus! The actual workout portions of the game don't wait for you to step on the balance board, and I don't think really track much of what you're doing too accurately. None of the workout regimens are explained and just automatically start up when you choose them. I felt like this was less interactive than just using a workout video. At least in the videos they'll show you how to do the excerises and prepare you before you attempt them! The speed of the regimens was so fast that I felt Yakety Sax should've started playing in the background instead of the "Mom-Metal" that they use throughout the game.
The graphics are of the quality of a Playstation 1 game. Laughable. You can tell they didn't even try and make a 3D recreation of Jillian Michaels and instead used some generic female character with a brown ponytail. I've seen better-looking environments done by a 14 year old in Maya (no, seriously).
The difference in weight measurement between Wii Fit and Jillian Michaels is also strange. In Wii Fit I weighed about 5 lbs less than I did in the Jillian Michaels game, even if I weighed myself in Wii Fit without a weight modifier. It's almost as if they're intentionally adding on weight...
In short, don't buy this game. There's a reason it's in every single bargain bin at your local Best Buy. It's not even worth 18 dollars. I wouldn't play this if someone paid me $100,000 to complete it. |
A real workout!

Being a big Jillian fan, I bought the fitness ultimatum 2009 and like many others I returned it because of all the problems with the controls.
When I saw a new game come out I knew I had to give it a shot and I'm not disappointed. This time around the graphics are much better (much less cartoony) and I've not had any of the problems with the game picking up my movements like the older version. The detailed instruction for the exercises is in the manual instead of within the game itself so be sure to read that first.
If you are a beginner you can make your own workout and pick your own intensity, which is a plus and the game allows you to choose your own music and island location for the exercises.
You can take a jog around the island and you can choose how long you want the run to be.
The game is more a workout than a leisure game, but if you want to a get an excellent workout...this game is a great value! |
Meh....get something else

| I agree whole heartedly with the Review NutWiiSystem left. Really calculating the results are spotty. You are doing it right, but she still berates you. At the start of each exercise, Jillian jumps right into the exercise while you are still getting situated with either putting on the Wii remote or turning the balance board the correct way. The Jenny McCarthy workout with the camera is a lot better at determining your accuracy. I'm returning my Jillian Michaels after trying our for 4 days. |
Its ok....

| description says you can use this without a wii fit board, but A LOT of the workout programs require it. Also, how sucky is it to run in place for a couple of miles? |
Its great to work you know.

I love Jillian Michaels Dvds except for the Yoga one (its not yoga to me) and the trouble zone one. 2009 Ultimatium was a disaster but the 2010 version is pretty great. The control are easy, the graphics are ten times better and you could basically keep working out.
Its a lot of fun along with Wii Sports, Wii Fit Plus, and other games.
Buy it cheap! Save money and a good workout on the Wii! |
